The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is inviting small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) preparers, accounting professionals and auditors to join the second meeting of its SME Discussion Forum for FRS 102 preparers.

The forum provides an opportunity to share practical insights and experiences from applying FRS 102 directly with members of the FRC's Accounting and Reporting Policy team. It forms part of the FRC's ongoing programme of stakeholder engagement, helping to ensure that UK and Ireland accounting standards remain proportionate, practical and responsive to the needs of those applying them.

Following a successful round of inaugural meetings earlier this year, the December fora will continue discussions on:

  • Applying FRS 102 in practice, including emerging experience of the Periodic Review 2024 amendments; and
  • Other topical financial reporting matters.

The discussion forum is intended to complement the FRC's wider stakeholder engagement activities and provide a dedicated channel for SMEs and their advisers to share perspectives on financial reporting issues affecting the sector.

The December 2026 round of meetings will be held virtually on 1 December 2026 and 10 December 2026.

Stakeholders interested in participating are encouraged to register their interest by contacting [email protected], and should include any preferences for the two meeting dates offered. The closing date for expressions of interest is 13 November 2026. Places may be limited to ensure productive discussion and broad representation across the SME community.

The FRC welcomes expressions of interest from preparers, accountants, auditors and other professionals who support entities applying FRS 102.
