The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) announces the appointment of Julia Unwin CBE and Jenny Watson CBE to its Board with effect from 1 April 2018.

Julia Unwin is Chair of the Independent Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society in England and was Chief Executive of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation from 2007 to 2016. She is also a Non-Executive Director at Mears Group PLC and at Yorkshire Water, and Senior Strategic Adviser at the Health Foundation.

Jenny Watson is Chair of the Independent Complaints Council at Portman Group and a Non-Executive Director of the Financial Ombudsman Service. Jenny is also Chair of the House of St Barnabas. From 2009 to 2016 she was Chair of the Electoral Commission. Her other roles have included being Chair of the Equal Opportunities Commission and a Commissioner at the Audit Commission.

Sir Winfried Bischoff, Chairman of the FRC, said,

Their public interest experience, particularly in the not for profit and social sectors, and among broader stakeholders will bring further insight into the FRC’s strategic thinking, particularly as we reach out to wider society in pursuit of our mission to promote transparency and integrity in business.”
