04 Dec 2018 12:00am to 12:00am
Will be held in the afternoon - timing tbc
The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) and the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) invite you to a panel discussion which will be held in London. The panel will explore the Discussion Paper Financial Instruments with the Characteristics of Equity issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) in June 2018. The IASB seeks to provide a clearer rationale for distinguishing debt from equity and enhance presentation and disclosure of these instruments in the financial statements.
Panel members include Andrew Watchman CEO and Chair of the Technical Expert Group (TEG) at EFRAG; and Andrew Lennard, Director of Research at the FRC; as well as representatives from the accounting profession and investor community. Anthony Appleton, Director of Accounting and Reporting Policy at the FRC will chair the event.
During the discussions we are interested in hearing your views on whether the proposals will lead to greater clarity and consistency and have the potential to improve financial reporting. The outcome of the discussions will feed into the FRC’s and EFRAG’s assessment of the proposals and our responses to the IASB.
Please sign up if you would like to contribute to the debate and the development of the IASB’s proposals. This event is of most interest to those familiar with the accounting challenges of distinguishing debt from equity in the financial statements.
Details about the exact time of the event will be provided in due course.
