FRC announces appointment of Keith Barton to the Board for Actuarial Standards

FRC PN 294 11 March 2010

The Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council, Sir Christopher Hogg, has today announced the appointment of Keith Barton to the Board for Actuarial Standards (BAS). The appointment is effective from 1 June 2010.

Sir Christopher said:

“I am very pleased to welcome Keith to the Board for Actuarial Standards. Keith brings many years of pensions experience to the BAS in this crucial year when key Technical Actuarial Standards, including one covering pensions work, are scheduled to be produced.”

Keith Barton has worked for Hewitt (formerly Bacon & Woodrow) since 1979 and has been a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries since 1981. He is scheme actuary to several large pension schemes as well as a number of medium and smaller sized schemes. Keith is currently Chairman of the Association of Consulting Actuaries; his term of office coming to an end on 31 May 2010.

  1. The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is the UK's independent regulator responsible for promoting confidence in corporate reporting and governance.
