Notes to Editors

  1. The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is a unified, independent regulator.  Its mission is to promote confidence in corporate reporting and governance.  The FRC incorporates five operating bodies: the Accounting Standards Board, the Auditing Practices Board, the Financial Reporting Review Panel, the Accountancy Discipline and Investigation Board and the Professional Oversight Board for Accountancy.
  2. The remit of the Financial Reporting Review Panel (‘the Panel’) is to examine the annual accounts of public and large private companies to see whether they comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 1985.  Within this framework a main focus is material departures from accounting standards where such a departure results in the accounts in question not giving a true and fair view as required by the Act.
  3. All appointments and re-appointments are for a three year term.  There is no remuneration attached to the appointment, however expenses are payable.
