Consultation Document
We published a consultation document in June 2006, which sought views on the way in which the Audit Inspection Unit reports publicly on the results of its inspections of the auditors of major public interest entities.

We published a summary of the responses in November 2006. There are links below to the individual responses received, other than those which we believe the consultee would prefer to remain confidential.
Next Steps
We are considering further the approach we should take to public reporting and expect to make an announcement in December.
We are also considering the related issue of sharing relevant information from inspections with audit committees, in the light of the comments made both in response to the consultation and in the recent debate in the House of Lords on the application of the Freedom of Information Act to the Professional Oversight Board.
