ASB Public Meeting 21 September 2006: Roundtable on Conceptual Framework

29 September 2006

On 21 September 2006, the Accounting Standards Board (ASB) hosted a public meeting on the proposals in the preliminary views discussion paper ‘The Objective of Financial Reporting and Qualitative Characteristics of Decision-useful Financial Reporting Information’ issued on 6 July by the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB) and the US Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).

The roundtable, which was chaired by Ian Mackintosh, Chairman of the ASB, including presentations from:

Ian Hague (Canadian Accounting Standards Board) and Kimberley Crook (Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand).

Ken Lever (CFO of Tomkins plc).

Peter Elwin (Head of Accounting and Valuation Research, Cazenove).

Andrew Lennard (ASB Director of Research)

To provide a context for the roundtable, the ASB prepared a background paper discussing some of the issues arising from the preliminary views paper. Andrew Lennard’s paper on stewardship was also circulated to participants.

The presentations and papers may be downloaded below:

A summary note of the points made in discussion will be made available shortly.
