The Accounting Standards Board (ASB) hosted a public meeting in Dublin on 19 June 2006, which was organised in conjunction with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI), the body responsible for promulgating Financial Reporting Standards in the Republic of Ireland. The round table was chaired by Ian Mackintosh, Chairman of the ASB. Ian and David Loweth, Acting Technical Director of the ASB, gave a presentation which covered:
- the role of the ASB;
- the ASB’s strategy for convergence with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and its tentative proposals for converging UK and Irish standards with IFRS; and
- big issues and hot topics on the standard-setting agenda.
