The Accounting Council has established a number of committees to assist it in carrying out its function.
The
Urgent Issues Task Force (UITF) was disbanded on 2 July 2012 as a result of FRC Reform.
The
Committee on Accounting for Smaller Entities (CASE) keeps under review the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (FRSSE), and advises the Accounting Council both on changes to the FRSSE and generally on matters relating to smaller entities.
A new Committee will be formed, in due course, to address all issues relating to UK accounting standards. Its activities will include areas where unsatisfactory or conflicting interpretations of accounting standards or Companies Act provisions have developed or seem likely to develop, as well as those relating to smaller entities.
The
Financial Services and Other Special Industries Committee (FSOSIC) and the
Committee on Accounting for Public-benefit Entities (CAPE) are advisory committees to assist the Accounting Council in supervising the development of Statements of Recommended Practice (SORPs).
The
Academic Panel is a group of distinguished academics who meet regularly to discuss issues relating to the FRC's work.
